This grid of tintype was made during the covid-19 pandemic. Like many people at the time who turned to the natural world for stability, purpose and pleasure, I found myself walking on the river every day, often with my dogs or a loved on. I’d sit on the banks and get lost in that hypnotic scattering of sunlight, glitters on the river’s surface. It turned into a practice that anchored me to the present and humbled me with perspectice. Resembling galaxies or cells under a microscope, these tintypes allude to the interdependce of life and the elemental power of water and light.
